This online course introduces and explores the ethical model of reverence for the dead, examines ethical evaluative criteria, and presents guidelines for the development of an individual professional code of ethics. Concepts explored include universal convictions, moral feelings, religious and philosophical guides to assist the practitioner in understanding funeral service ethics.

Todd W. Van Beck
Todd W. Van Beck is one of the funeral profession's most prolific authors and presenters. From simple staff development at the smallest funeral home to clergy seminars to keynote addresses at the largest of gatherings, Van Beck tailors each presentation to suit any occasion. Van Beck has written over 200 articles and 65 books and manuals, covering every possible topic of interest to funeral directors, cemeterians, and clergy. His extensive training and experience span over 35 years at every level of the funeral and cemetery professions and the church.
Van Beck has studied the theory of quality control under Dr. W. Edwards Deming and has applied those principals to the funeral and cemetery profession as a specialist in the Deming management system.
He is one of the best known and most well-regarded educators, writers, and speakers in the funeral profession. His book, Winning Ways, and the articles he frequently contributes to funeral industry trade magazines illustrate Van Beck's ability to come up with simple yet innovative ways to improve a funeral home and his knack for explaining good business practices in a down-to-earth, step-by-step way.
