This online course is an in-depth study of cremation, providing an overview of where and how cremation began. Primarily, the course examines the implications of the growth of cremation on funeral service today. Dan Isard is no stranger to the funeral and cemetery industry. Since 1985, Dan has developed his skills and reputation to provide financial and managerial consulting for owners of specialty industries, with the bulk of his time spent providing services to funeral home and cemetery owners, managers, and directors.
He has performed more than 2,000 valuations of funeral homes and more than 500 valuations of cemeteries throughout North America and the United Kingdom, and been involved in helping more than 500 people acquire or transfer their funeral home or cemetery. He has also operated more than 30 funeral homes and cemeteries on behalf of the owner, a state government, or a lender in possession for some period of time. He has consulted with specialty insurance companies in the preneed and final expense.
Dan has published over 250 articles in various funeral and cemetery trade publications and is a monthly columnist for the NFDA's The Director. He has had countless articles published in The American Funeral Director, The American Cemetery, Southern Funeral Director, Alliance Magazine, and the ICCFA Magazine. Dan is the author of four books and a contributor to a mortuary science text book.
A sought after speaker in the industry, Dan has delivered seminars and CE classes to funeral professionals at national conventions, state association meetings and various study groups. For several years, Dan was an educator for The American College located in Bryn Mawr, PA, teaching classes at their campuses at Temple University in Philadelphia and The University of Houston on Life Insurance Law and Premium Calculations, Business Tax Planning, and Estate Planning.
Mr. Isard through his companies has been retained on more than 90 cases throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. He has been admitted as an expert witness and testified before the state and federal courts. Dan has been interviewed as an expert on topics related to the funeral and cemetery industry by various public national and local media including 60 Minutes, NPR, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, Forbes, Fortune, The Business Journal, and USA Today.
